Foreword

According to the requirements of Document Jian Biao〔2006〕No.136-Notice on Printing and Distributing the Development and revision plan of Engineering Construction Standards and Codes in 2006(Batch 2)issued by the Ministry of Construction(MOC)，this Code is developed by Sinopec Engineering Incorporation in cooperation with other involved organizations under the administration of China Petrochemical Corporation(Sinopec Group).

In preparing this Code，the development team summarized the experiences in design and construction of steel tank foundation，absorbed the research achievements of foundation structures for large-size steel tanks in recent years，made reference to the applicable codes and standards in China and abroad，widely collected the comments from the relevant survey，design，construction as well as the users.Through a multi-round discussion，revision，the final version has been completed and reviewed by an expert panel.

This Code comprises 7 chapters and 1 appendix，and mainly covers the general，and symbols，basic requirements，foundation ringwall design，bearing capacity of subgrade calculation and stability checking，subgrade deformation checking，foundation detailing and materials.

The provisions printed in bold type are compulsory and must be enforced strictly.

Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People's Republic of China is in charge of administration of this Code and explanation of its compulsory provisions，China Petrochemical Corporation is responsible for its routine management，and Sinopec Engineering Incorporation is tasked for explanation of specific technical contents.All relevant organizations are kindly requested to sum up your experiences in actual practices during the process of implementing this Code.The relevant comments and information may be posted or passed on to the Management Team for Code for Design of Steel Tank Foundation in Sinopec Engineering Incorporation(Address:Bldg.21 Anyuan，Anhui Bei Li，Chaoyang District，Beijing，post code:100101)as a reference for revising this Standard in the future.
