发布招聘启事是企业招聘人才的常用方法之一。它具有受众广泛、快捷方便及成本低廉的特点。尤其是通过Internet发布招聘启事，其优点更为明显。这也是IT企业最热衷的方法。

招聘启事通常具有简洁明了和准确严谨的文风。因此，表格及规格化的表达方式比较常用，以达到有条理、有层次的目的。其开始往往是职位描述，然后是对应聘者的具体要求。一个规范的招聘启事会明确表示出其工作的行业、性质、是否需要经常出差，以及工作地点等信息。

在IT企业的招聘启事中，往往会使用许多专业词汇，特别是缩略语（如下例中的PIX，VPNs，TCP／IP，IDS及CCIE）。另外，在IT企业的招聘启事中，往往还会使用一些特殊的表达方式，如下例中4＋years experience，表示“4年以上经验”。
