Background(背景知识)

Hotels are busy and demanding but with great fun!As the hotel receptionist,it is important to realize that you are the face of that hotel:You're the first person to greet guests as they arrive,you're the person they will come to if they have any problems and you're the first person they speak to on the phone.

Guests in person are very important and should always be acknowledged.There is nothing worse than waiting to be spoken to.If you're on the phone or dealing with someone else,a nod or smile of acknowledgement is all that is needed,but you could follow with a cheerful“I'll be with you in a moment”.

When someone walks into the reception,you should always stand up,if you're not standing already.Shake their hands if appropriate and smile.People want to be welcomed,and made to feel comfortable when they're staying away from home and as the receptionist,you set the tone for the rest of the stay.People remember impeccable service and they love it.

R—Receptionist G—guest

R:Good morning,sir.What can I do for you?

G:Good morning.I have a reservation for a single room with bath here.

R:May I have your name,please?

G:Darius Robertson.
