It was in 2010 that I first encountered Uncle Bear when working at Shanghai Media Group.

He was an intern at International Channel Shanghai where I was doing voice-over announcements and a little bit of training of anchors.
当时他在上海外语频道实习，我在那里担任解说员，也承担一些训练主持人的工作。
I heard his recording of a short news report and was immediately struck by the quality of his voice. I assumed that he had been educated in America and had taken some voice classes.
在听了他的一小段新闻报道录音之后，我一下子就被他浑厚的嗓音吸引了。我猜他一定在美国留过学，肯定还参加过语音培训班。
Imagine my surprise, then, when I discovered that he was so young and that he had lived all his life in the north of China. He had never been formally trained, but through close listening to overseas broadcasts he had developed an impressive vocal style and fluency in English.
后来我却发现他年纪尚小，而且居然一直都居住在中国北方，你可以想象我当时有多惊讶。虽然他从未接受过正式的发音训练，但是通过精听外国广播节目，他培养了自己出色的声音风格和流利、地道的英文发音。
Such talent is quite rare, and I encouraged Uncle Bear to take advantage of his special gift and to pursue a career in voice.
