With the discovery of the Tiansheng Statutes we now realize that within the early-13 th century Qingyuan tiaofa shilei exist a far greater number of articles inherited from the Tang Statutes than once was thought. This material furnishes us with the possibility of being able to reconstruct the Tang Statutes vis-à-vis the Qingyuan tiaofa shilei (excepting economic articles, which are notoriously susceptible to historical fluctuations). Articles relating to li 禮, such as the Holiday Statutes 假寧令 and the Mourning and Burial Statutes 喪葬令, remain historically largely unchanged. These inheritances are especially apparent in Qingyuan tiaofa shilei. For that reason, future attempts to reconstruct Tang Statutes, in particular those of items relating to li, will have to take into greater consideration the utility and relevance of Qingyuan tiaofa shilei.
