Problem Solving（问题求解题）

首先来看一下这类题目的Direction：

Directions: Solve the problem and indicate the best of the answer choices given.

Numbers: All numbers used are real numbers.

（和GRE一样，所有考查的数都是实数）

Figures: All figures accompanying a problem solving question is intended to provide information useful in solving the problem.Figures are drawn as accurately as possible.Exceptions will be clearly noted.Lines shown as straight are straight,and lines that appear jagged are also straight.The positions of points,angles,regions,etc.,exist in the order shown,and angle measures are greather than zero.All figures lie in a plane unless otherwise indicated.

Example 1:

There are five positive numbers n+2,n+1,n-2,n and n+9,which of the following could be the difference between the mean and the median?

（B）2

（C）n-1

（D）n+2

解： 这5个数的平均值为

这5个数的median是多少呢？有些人轻率的认为是n-2，也就是中间那个数，如果是这样，那你赶紧去看统计那一章。因为求median，首先要排序，如果按照从小到大排序，得到n-2，n，n+1，n+2，n+9，中位数为n+1，(n+2)-(n+1)=1，选择（E）。

Example 2:

有30个人申请KH厂的财务总监职位，鉴于KH厂在新闻界的影响，有许多报纸报道了这一重大人事变动。其中一个报道说第一次面试后录取范围缩小到少于5名候选人，而另外一个报道宣称第一次面试后淘汰了少于27名申请者，假如这两个报道都是正确的，那么如果x个申请者在第一次申请后被淘汰，x可能的值是多少？

（A）27

（B）26

（C）25，26

（D）25，26，27

（E）26，27

解： 第一个报道说录取范围少于5人，那么淘汰人数x>(30-5)，即x>25；

由第二个报道得到x<27；

两者结合起来得到25<x<27，因此x=26，答案为（B）。
