The elephants’school at Celesteville is closed for the whole summer.Zephir, the little monkey, as well as his bigger schoolmates, goes off for the holidays.What fun to go and see his family again! But how sad to leave his friends,King Babar, Queen Celeste, the Old Lady, his teacher, and his beloved Arthur!
在西莱斯特城，大象学校都会放一整个夏天的假。这个时候，小猴子泽飞尔和比他年长的同学都会离开学校去欢度暑假。哦，他可以回家跟亲人团聚了！太高兴了！可是每当他想到要和国王巴巴、王后西莱斯特、老师老夫人，还有他最要好的朋友亚瑟分离，泽飞尔便十分伤心！
All four have promised to come to the river near the bridge to see him off and bid him a last fond farewell. There they are. Zephir catches sight of them. He waves his handkerchief and calls out: “Au revoir!”
因此他们四个都答应会去送他，他们约好在大桥附近的河边送他最后一程。他们果真就在那里等着他，泽飞尔一眼就认出了他们。他挥动着手中的帕子，对着他们高声大喊：“再见了！再见了！”
Zephir arrives at the station of Monkeyville and throws himself into his mother’s arms.
火车抵达了猴庄火车站，泽飞尔刚下车就看到了妈妈，她是专程过来接他回家的。他激动地一下子抱住了妈妈。
“Gracious! How you’ve grown, my darling!” she says, as she kisses him on both cheeks.
“天啊！我心爱的儿子！你真的长大了！”泽飞尔的妈妈开心地说，接着亲吻了他的脸颊。
Everybody has piled into the family car. Zephir rides in front next to his father; his mother rides in back with his little sister and his brothers.
泽飞尔一家人坐在汽车里，泽飞尔坐在了前面，挨着爸爸。他的妈妈和妹妹，还有两个弟弟则坐在后面的座位上。
“Let’s go! Step on the gas!” says Zephir.
“坐稳了！我们这就启程回家啦！加快速度了！”泽飞尔兴奋地叫喊着。
They have to use a rope ladder to climb up to the house perched there in the treetops. Zephir scrambles up easily,but laughs as he says to himself: “This wouldn’t do at all for my friends, the elephants. ”
在猴子们住的村庄里，猴子们的房子都建在了树顶上。他们回家的时候，需要爬着用绳子做成的梯子上去。泽飞尔爬得飞快，不一会儿功夫就轻松地爬了上去。他自言自语地说：“对于我的大象朋友来说，这根本是不可能办到的事啊！”这样想着，他笑了起来。
he house is small but comfortable. While his mother prepares a good soup of bananas and chocolate, Zephir plays hide and seek with his brothers. His father carries up the baggage, and little sister swings to and fro.
泽飞尔家的房子虽然小，但是很舒服。厨房里，妈妈正在煲香蕉和巧克力汤，泽飞尔在和两个弟弟玩捉迷藏。爸爸正忙着把泽飞尔的行李搬进房间里，小妹妹正高兴地在树枝上荡秋千。
Zephir falls asleep almost as soon as his head touches the pillow. But in the middle of the night, the nightingale wakes him with his song: "Troulala,tiou-tiou-tiou! Tidi! Tidi!"
晚上，泽飞尔刚躺到床上就进入了梦乡。但睡到半夜他被一只夜莺给吵醒了，夜莺唱着欢快的歌：“啾啾——啾——啾——啾！滴里！滴里！滴里里！”
