考点14：数词的基本用法
数词是表示数目多少和顺序先后的词，可分为基数词和序数词两类。
高考中主要的基数词可参见下表：
使用基数词时要注意：
（1）一般情况下基数词为单数形式，但在以下特殊情况下可以使用复数形式：①前边没有加数字或a few等其他限定词修饰的hundred、thousand、million等基数词可用复数形式，后面再加“of+名词”，表示不确定的数量关系，例如：hundreds of people 数以百计的人//thousands and thousands of workers 成千上万的工人。②在一些介词词组里表示方式，例如：They arrived in twos and threes. 他们三三两两地到达了。③表示人的岁数（以“in+the+表示‘几十’的基数词的复数形式”）或年代。例如：He is in his thirties. 他三十多岁了。// It took place in the 1950's. 那件事发生在二十世纪五十年代。
（2）表示数量的dozen（n.一打, 十二个）和score（n. 二十）可以视为基数词使用。例如：I want a dozen pencils, please! 劳驾，我要一打铅笔。// Scores of people attended the meeting. 有数十个人参加了这次会议。
主要的基数词与序数词的对照可以参见下表：

［答案］ A
［解析］ 直接修饰可数名词的基数词，不用复数形式，由此直接排除选项B、C，thousands of 表示概数，前不能接two，故而选A。
［例2］ Peter's jacket looked just the same as Jack's, but it cost ____ his.
A. as much twice as
B. twice as much as
C. much as twice as
D. as twice much as
［答案］ B
［解析］ twice应该放在“as ... as ... ”之前表示倍数。
