afraid通常用作表语，和系动词连用，表示“害怕”“担心”等，可以：
跟of引导的短语：
She is afraid of snakes. 她怕蛇。
She was afraid of waking him. 她担心把他吵醒。
跟不定式：
They were afraid to be seen by others. 他们怕被别人看到。
跟从句：
I was afraid I might hurt your feelings. 我担心我会伤害你的感情。
I’m afraid常可用来使语气显得委婉一些，可译为“恐怕”等：
I’m afraid you don’t see my point. 恐怕你没听懂我的意思。
若要作定语，可用frightened表示：
