其中一个替这些人完成与自然为伍梦想的机构就是世界有机农场组织（World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms，又称WWOOF）。从1971年开始，他们就为一般人打开大门，让有兴趣的人有机会从头学习有机农耕技术（Organic farming techniques）。但是并非所有的实习都需要整天在太阳底下种植农作物（growing produce），墨西哥的一个农场需要足够的人手帮忙成立一间孤儿院，而加拿大的一个农场也在找人来协助农场制作事宜。
有意愿的劳工可以用自己的劳力获得雇主提供的食宿，或是用一些打杂工作，获得如何永续生活的一课。虽然这种“义工式的旅游（voluntouring）”可能很累，但大多数经历过的人通常会在工作中获得很大的满足，并乐在其中。
