在引导独立从句的连词前加逗号

The early records of the city have disappeared, so the story of its first years can no longer be constructed.

关于这个城市的早期记录已散失殆尽,因而其早年的情况已无从得知。

The situation is perilous, but there is still one chance of escape.

情势危急,不过仍有一线脱逃的希望。


如果句子由两个分句组成,且第二个分句由 as (表“因为”), for or nor while (表“与此同时”)等连词引导时,同样需要在连词前加逗号。

如果一个从句或一个须用逗号隔开的引导性短语位于第二个独立分句前,则连词后不需用逗号。例如:


The situation is perilous, but if we are prepared to act promptly there is still one chance of escape.

情势危急,但如果我们能做好准备立即行动,就仍有一线逃脱的希望。


当两个分句的主语相同,且主语仅出现一次时,如果连词为 but ,则应加逗号;如果连词是 and 且两句关系紧密,则不用逗号。例如:


I've heard the argument, but am still unconvinced.

我已经听过了论据,但是仍未被说服。

He has several years' experience and is thoroughly competent.
