Rainforests are the habitat of many plants and animals. They have heavy rainfall and hot or mild temperatures.
An amazing variety of plants and animals live in rainforests. Most animals are found in the canopy, enjoying the seeds and fruits, and the Sun when it shines. Birds easily fly from treetop to treetop, but this layer is so dense that even flightless animals have no trouble getting around. There is almost daily rainfall in the rainforest and the large trees provide shade to the plants below. It is a struggle for smaller trees to reach the light.
