UNIT 2
The United Nations.

In World War II, sixty million people died. The people of the world who suffered during that war, wanted to find a way to keep the peace in the future. Fifty-one countries came together to form the United Nations in 1945.

When a country that is a member of the United Nations has a problem they think they cannot solve alone, they bring it to the United Nations to ask for help. These problems mostly fall into five main categories. They are

1. Education

2. Health

3. Environment

4. Security

5. Human Rights
