Good manners are a key to smoother social interactions. We express our gratitude for the help we get from other people and offer our apologies when we do something wrong.These are the rules of interpersonal relations.Sometimes gratitude and apologies are only an manifestation of personal comportments.Excess of such expressions result only in humility.Consideration should also be given to the circumstances in which wefind ourselves and we should guard against megalomaniac arrogance and egoistic presumption.

Saying Sorry（致歉）
Tom：Hello, Lily, you'vefinally come.
Lily：I am very sorry, Tom. I'mfifteen minutes late.
Tom：Never mind. I just wondered what happened to you.
Lily：I was caught in a bad traffic jam three blocks away.I thought it would be faster if I walked here.
Tom：Don't blame yourself for it. It's not unusual to get caught in traffic jams at such a rush hour.
Lily：I didn't really expect there were so many cars on the streets. Next time I will leave home earlier.
汤姆：你好，丽丽，你终于来了。
丽丽：非常对不起，汤姆。我迟到了十五分钟。
汤姆：没关系。我只是不知道你出了什么事。
丽丽：我碰上大堵车了，就在离这里三个街区的地方。我想要是我走过来会更快些。
