1.珠穆朗玛峰/Mount Qomolangma

珠穆朗玛峰，简称珠峰。“珠穆朗玛”藏语意为“第三女神”。藏语中“珠穆”是女神的意思，“朗玛”是第三的意思。因为在珠穆朗玛峰的附近还有四座山峰，珠峰位居第三，所以称为珠穆朗玛峰。

The World’s Highest Peak　世界最高峰

Mt. Qomolangma is the world's highest peak at about 8，850m.The state-level Qomolangma Nature Reserve（保护区）was established in Tibet, China at 1988.It covers an area of 33，800 square kilometers.

The whole reserve is divided into three central reserve parts, the buffer zone and the developing zone. The terrain of the reserve descends from the high north to the low south, with a varied topography（地貌）.The average elevation（海拔）is 4，200 meters and the lowest is 1，433 meters.

According to surveys, some 2，348 plants grow here. Many precious animals live in the reserve.There are 53 mammals，206 birds，8 amphibious（两栖的）animals，6 reptiles and 5 fishes.Among them，9 species are under Class A state protection and 21 pecies are under Class B state protection.
