CLOCKS AND WATCHES

A clock is large or small. A watch is small. A clock has only two hands, but a watch has two or three hands.

Where is our clock? It is on the wall. Is it on the wall to your right hand? No,it is on the wall to my left hand.

Where is your new watch? My new watch is in one of my pockets. Is your watch made of gold? No; it is made of silver. How many hands has it? It has three hands—the hour hand, the minute hand, and the second hand. The hour hand is the short hand; it shows the hours. The minute hand is the long hand;it shows the minutes. The second hand is the small hand;it shows the seconds.

There are sixty seconds in a minute. There are sixty minutes in an hour. Twenty-four hours make a day,and seven days make a week. A watch or a clock shows what time it is. It shows the seconds, the minutes, and the hours; but it does not show the day,the week,or the month.
