“OH,” said a little girl, bursting into tears, when she heard of the death of a young friend, “I did not know, when I saw her, that it was the last time I should have to speak to Amy!”
The last time they were together she spoke crossly to her, and that last cross word now lay heavy on her heart.
This points out a good rule about kind words. Speak kindly to your father, to your mother, to your brother, to your sister, to your playmates, to every one around you, lest it should be the last time you will have to speak to them. Cross words are very sad to think of.
Little children, love each other;
Never give another pain:
If your brother speak in anger,
Answer not in wrath again.
