1. Never look behind, boys,

When you're on the way;

Time enough for that, boys,

On some future day .

2. Though the way be long, boys,

Face it with a will;

Never stop to look behind

When climbing up a hill.

3. First be sure you're right, boys;

Then with courage strong

Strap your pack upon your back,

And tramp, tramp along.

Of the rugged way,

But climb, climb away.
