Spring is here. The park is gay with wattle.

Mother took us to see it to-day.

The pretty trees were all along the river bank.

They hung their blossoms over the water.

Little yellow balls were falling from the trees.

Mother lay on the bank, but Edna and I went off to play.

We saw a big bird on a tree; it was calling to us.

I think it was a grey bell magpie.

Pretty parrots were flying to and fro

We were so happy that we said, “Mother, may we stay till five o’clock? Oh, do say we may!
