Jeremy was small. He was really, really small. In fact, he was so small that you could very easily step on him, if you weren't paying attention. You could very easily step on his whole house! After all, his house was just a shoebox. When Jeremy was little—oops! I should say, when Jeremy was a young boy, he hated being so small. Nobody paid attention to him or cared about what he was saying. "No one can understand what it's like to be so small," he thought.
Meanwhile,there was a man named Max, who also lived in town. Max was tall. He was almost too tall! He was nearly as tall as a tree! The townspeople didn't like him. Maybe they were scared of him. Because he was so big, his house was huge too. The townspeople didn't like that. They were jealous that Max had such a big house.
Next to it, their houses looked small. Max became very lonely. "No one can understand what it's like to be so very tall," he thought to himself.
One day Jeremy went for a walk and bumped into a tree. "This tree was not here yesterday, how can that be?" he asked himself. Suddenly he heard a voice from the sky say, "I'm not a tree! I'm just a big man." When Jeremy looked up, he met his first and best friend.

有一天，杰里米去散步,撞到了一棵树上。“这棵树昨天还不在这儿啊，怎么可能呢？”他问自己。突然，他听到空中传来一个声音：“我不是一棵树！我只是个子太高而已。”杰里米抬起头，看到了他的第一个朋友，也是他最好的朋友。
