生态习性： 栖息于水体中上层，喜集群觅食。杂食性，以水生昆虫、植物碎屑、浮游动物和藻类为食，也吞食小鱼。2 龄性成熟，繁殖期5~6 月。

地理分布： 宁夏黄河干流及附属水体。

经济价值： 宁夏土著鱼类，可食用，具有一定经济价值。

MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS: Compressed body, straight back, full abdomen scutes; terminal mouth with oblique fissure; thin scales and easy to be fallen off; lateral line is bent downwards sharply from the pectoral fin, which forms a remarkable angle; dorsal fin has an ossified spine; dorsal fin iii-7; anal fin iii-11~14; scales in lateral line 48~57.

ECOLOGICAL HABITS： It lives in middle and upper stratum water body, and likes to forage in group; it is an omnivory fish, which lives on aquatic insects, phytoclastk, zooplankton and algae, as well as baby fish; it matures at the age of 2, and its breeding period is in May and June.

GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION: It is distributed in main stream of the Yellow River and its tributaries in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
