形态特征：体型长，侧扁，腹部圆，无腹棱。口端位，吻钝圆。下颌稍向上倾斜。背鳍 iii-7；臀鳍 iii-9；胸鳍 i-16~17；腹鳍 i-8。侧线鳞 52～ 56。胸鳍较短，腹鳍位于背鳍起点之前。臀鳍起点位于背鳍基部之后。体背深灰色，腹部银白色。背鳍和尾鳍灰白色，胸鳍、腹鳍和臀鳍橘黄色。

生态习性：中上层杂食性鱼类。喜欢栖息于河口、渠道和小河流水缓慢的水体中。出水后极易死亡。但在 pH值 9以上的碱性水体中仍能生活。3龄性成熟，4～5月份为繁殖期。

地理分布：分布于黑龙江、辽河、鸭绿江及黄河流域。宁夏引黄灌区和西吉、隆德等地均有分布。

经济价值：肉质鲜美，具有一定的经济价值。

MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS: Long and compressed body; round abdomen with-out scutes; terminal mouth and obtuse round mouth; lower jaw is inclinated upwards; dorsal fin iii-7; anal fin iii-9; pectoral fin i-16~17; pelvic fin i-8; scales in lateral line 52～56; short pectoral fin; ventral fin lies in the front of the growing point of dorsal fin; growing point of anal fin is after that of dorsal fin; body and back are plumbeous; ab-domen is silvery white; dorsal fin and caudal fin are offwhite; pectoral fin, pelvic fin and anal fin are saffron yellow.

ECOLOGICAL HABITS：It is an omnivorous fish, which likes to live in middle and upper stra-tum of debouch and water course with slow flowing water areas; it is very likely to die without water, but may live in the water of pH value above 9. It matures at the age of 3, and the April and May is its breeding period.

GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION: It is distributed in Heilongjiang, Liaohe River, Yalujiang and the Yellow River drainage areas, as well as in irrigation areas pumped from the Yellow River in Ningxia, Xiji County, and Longde County.
