形态特征：口亚下位，弧形。吻较长。鳞小。侧线完全，前段稍弯。背鳍位置较后，起点在腹鳍基部之后。背鳍 iii-7；臀鳍 iii-7。侧线鳞 72~88。背部灰褐色，有黑点，体侧中轴有 1条黑色纹带，腹部灰白色。尾鳍基部有黑色斑块。

生态习性：栖息于水流缓慢、水质清澈、水温较低的河道中。杂食性，主要以昆虫幼虫为食，也食水生植物。地理分布：宁夏黄河干流、贺兰山溪流等有分布。

经济价值：宁夏小型土著鱼类，是鱼岁属中个体较大的一种。

MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS: Sub hypogynous long mouth in arc shape; small scales; completed lateral line; forepart is slightly bend; location of dorsal fin is relatively behind, which the growing point is behind the base of ventral fin; dorsal fin iii-7; anal fin iii -7; scales in lateral line 72 ~88; its back is in mouse color with black spots, and there is a black stripe in the central axis of body side; abdomen is offwhite; the base of caudal fin has black plaques.

ECOLOGICAL HABITS：It lives in slow-flowing and clear river with low water temperature; it is an omnivorous fish which lives on insect larvaes, as well as aquatic plants.

GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION: It is distributed in main stream of the Yellow River and rivulet from Helan Mountain in Ningxia.
