指路时最常用的一种方式就是使用术语blocks。block是在两个十字路口之间的一段街区。因此the next block意味着下个路口之后的那段街区，而three blocks ahead意味着在同一条街道上接下来的三个路口。

向左转。

叫别人左转或右转的不同方式有好几种。Take a left，go left，turn left和make a left都代表同样的意思：左转。右转也一样，只要把“left”换成“right”。

在指路时，如果目的地离得很近，可以用It's just past the bank这样的句型，但如果距离很远呢？我们可以用时间来表达距离：
